CPS to distribute Pan World

Grundfos has moved the production of dosing pumps from the pilot plant in Bjerringbro to the French production company PGF.

CPS Ltd is to distribute products from the Japanese specialist pump manufacturer Pan World group of companies. Its range of thermoplastic mag drive sealless pumps has been extended with capacities ranging up to 90m3/hr & discharge heads of up to 60m. Used for the transfer & circulation of aggressive & corrosive liquids within the chemical, pharmaceutical, water/effluent treatment and electronics industries, the pumps are available in PP, ECTFE & Stainless Steel.

PGF is one of Grundfos' two competence centres within composite injection moulding, composite being the material that the dosing pumps are made from. PGF is situated centrally in Western Europe and has its own distribution centre, aiding supply chain from the numerous external suppliers to PGF and from PGF to the customers. Several of PGF's managers have worked in the motor industry. Segment director Jes Munk commented, “Our experience in

Thompson wins power contracts FCX Thompson Valves — part of the FCX group of flow control solution providers — has won a contract to supply valves to Karachaganak Oil and Gas in Kazakhstan. In addition, the company has won several large contracts to supply valves to the Sakhalin 2 project in the CIS. Woodside Oil and Gas of Australia has selected the company to supply valves for the upgrade of their Goodwin 'A' offshore platform. the motor industry enables PGF to maintain a high level of quality and speed up the process in order to reduce the time of delivery. It has been very important to us that they can increase production at short notice in response to a sales increase.” The dosing pumps are primarily used for water treatment and wastewater treatment, as well as industrial processes. As the dosing pumps are always used for chemicals that are often aggressive, special accessories are required for the installation. Accessories handling, which accounts for 20% of dosing sales will also be placed with PGF.

Significant stockholding results in fast turnarounds on either spare parts or complete pumps. CPS are also able to offer a full installation service if required.

High quality of entries mark PIA judging session The judging panel for the BPMA Pumps in Industry Awards in association with World Pumps magazine took place at the Metcom Centre in London on 8 December. The objective of the session was for the judging panel to review each of the entries submitted and consider their relative merits against the given nomination criteria and select four finalists in each category. The judges were, in the main, drawn from the sponsors and were very impressed at the number and quality of the submissions. According to one of the judges, John Thorne, it was quite a job to narrow them down to the four final nominations for each category. Another judge was Leslie Teasdale, winner of last year's 'Lifetime achievement' award

and former technical director of the BPMA. All the submissions were properly considered and were guided by a 3in thick, 440 page, judge's handbook, detailing every nomination category by category. With judges having the opportunity to review the supporting material — CDs, manuals, papers etc — the session was a thorough one, beginning at 10.00am and continuing until 5.00. Nevertheless, by all accounts the discussions were amicable with a high level of technical discussion. The names of the finalists will be posted on the Pumps in Industry Awards website at www.piawardsonthenet.net from Monday 2 February and readers asked to vote for their chosen nomination.
