Lewa establishes pump subsidiary in Dubai
G
erman pump manufacturer Lewa has expanded its existing sales office in Dubai into a legally independent subsidiary. Lewa Middle East FZE is headquartered in the Jebel Ali free trade zone in Dubai and is headed up by Jim O’Neil. “We want to show a stronger presence in the region, which offers us a significant sales potential in the oil and gas sector as well as in the process industry, with a separate company,” said Bernd Stütz, CEO of the Lewa Group. “To be successful there, after all, you have to be represented on-site with sales and service. There’s an important long-term strategy behind this new subsidiary; in the future, more countries in the Middle East will be represented from the base in Dubai which promise interesting potential, especially in the oil and gas industry.” Lewa will initially concentrate on the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. The longer goal, according to Adolf Grossmann, head of oil and gas industry sales at Lewa, is that Lewa Middle East FZE could also tap into the enormous potential of the Indian subcontinent from Dubai. Franklin Electric to relocate HQ and engineering centre
F
ranklin Electric Co Inc is moving its global corporate headquarters and Engineering Centre of Excellence from Bluffton, Indiana to a new facility in the Fort Wayne, Indiana, metropolitan area in the first half of 2013. The company’s board of directors has approved a preliminary plan to build a new 110 000 sq ft facility in Allen County, Indiana. Franklin Electric intends to purchase approximately 100 acres of land subject to final approval of the sale by the Fort Wayne - Allen County Airport Authority. The new facility will initially employ approximately 225 people who currently work at Franklin Electric’s leased space in Bluffton, Indiana. Franklin Electric has worked with the City of Fort Wayne, Allen County, and the State of Indiana to secure economic incentives worth up to approximately US$3.3 million. The pump manufacturer is also continuing to work with Allen County to secure an additional incentive in the form of tax increment financing. “Although Bluffton and Wells County have been a wonderful home for Franklin Electric since our founding, the current facilities that we lease are increasingly inadequate for the growing needs of our company, especially with
respect to the engineering laboratory that is used for our global product development and testing,” said Scott Trumbull, Franklin Electric chairman and CEO. For further information, visit www.franklin-electric.com
Wilo sponsors Borussia Dortmund football team
G
erman pump manufacturer Wilo has become a Champion Partner of the Borussia Dortmund football team. The Dortmund-based pump company will be a sponsor of the 2010/11 Bundesliga champions for the next two years. “We are convinced that next season the team will once again be setting new standards with their great playing style. This will benefit us and our distribution partners in wholesale and trade. And because of the great media interest in the Bundesliga and Borussia Dortmund, the Wilo brand will increase its media profile significantly,” said Oliver Hermes, chairman of the Wilo Group executive board. “This is a perfect match, especially since both partners are firmly rooted in Dortmund.” Borussia Dortmund’s home ground, the Signal Iduna Park, is already equipped with Wilo products. “It makes a lot of sense to expand this relationship after the fantastic season the club has had,” added Hermes.
