INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR HEART AND LUNG TRANSPLANTATION

TWENTY-FIRST ANNUAL MEETING AND SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM Don’t miss the following at this year’s meeting: Invited Lecture Series: Each Plenary Session will feature lectures from international experts. Come and learn what’s new with The Human Genome Project, cell transplantation, the artificial lung, pediatric immunosuppression, and the role of the endothelium in rejection. Provocative Debates: Closing the meeting with an energetic debate on an issue of polarized opinion has become one of the hallmarks of the ISHLT meeting. Join us for this year’s debates: A “Marginal Heart” Transplant is Better than a VAD Bridge, and Lung Allocation: Medical Urgency, Not Time on List. Case Reports: Learn from the experience of others during Friday’s Sunrise Symposia: Current Issues Allograft Vasculopathy, Would You Use This Lung Donor?, More VADs Gone Bad, and Anything But a Biopsy: Noninvasive Rejection Detection and Saturday’s Sunrise Symposia: Fantastic Failures and Sensational Successes in Heart, Lung and PediatricTransplantation. Basics of Transplantation: To encourage participation in this meeting among those who are new to transplantation, those in training, and those who are need of a refresher course, we are offering an educational track in the basics of transplantation. This will begin with a Satellite Symposium on Wednesday reviewing the basics of transplantation immunology. We will be offering two Mid-Day workshops, entitled “Core Curriculum Courses” one addressing thoracic transplant pathology and one delving into new insights into the pharmacology of immunosuppressive agents.
