The process includes the synthesis of pigments as well as the subsequent steps, such as finishing, filtration, drying, blending and packaging. The company says that all process steps are controlled by a modern process control system that ensures compliance with the highest safety standards. "The highly automated plant has an initial production capacity of 200 metric tons annually, with possibilities to increase capacity to meet market demand," says Dr. Leonhard Unverdorben, project manager DPP at Clariant.
claimed to offer good colour strength and fastness. The Pigments & Additives Division is adding three highperformance pigments to its range of Colour Index Pigment Red 254. This includes Hostaperm® Red D2G 70, which is suitable for the pigmentation of OEM automotive finishes and refinishes, as well as plastics colouration. Hostaperm Red D3G 70 is recommended for industrial coatings and printing inks. PV Fast Red D3G is a high-value pure red pigment that was specially developed for colouring polyolefins and food packaging. This grade will shortly be also available as a non-dusting and easy-dosing granule under the trade name DrizPearls® Red D3G, says the
Dr. Uwe Nickel, head of the Pigments & Additives Division adds: "By completing our range of products with highperformance red pigments and newly developed rubine pigments, Clariant is investing in an area with great future potential. In addition, we were able to integrate this production line into the existing pigment facility at this site. The company adds that the high-performance pigments are suitable for many high-quality applications. Applications include OEM automotive finishes and industrial coatings, but also plastics colouring. company. Clariant says that the new DPP production plant reflects the successful realization of a project with great future potential. The first pilot plant tests were undertaken about four years ago; shortly afterwards Clariant started to plan the new production line. After less than eighteen months of construction, the functionality tests were successfully completed a few days ago, and the operation of parts of the plant could already be started. As planned, the first DPP red pigments are now being produced. Contact: Clariant Tel: +49 6196 757 8130 E-mail:
