Severn Trent Services launches drinking water turbidity meter Severn Trent Services has developed a turbidity meter which, the company says, is suitable for use with clean water and all types of raw water, including wastewater discharge in both municipal and industrial applications, although it has been designed for drinking water. It is designed to monitor turbidity ranging from 0-200 NTU and is capable of monitoring two sample streams using either ISO or EPA compliant sensors.

Greene, Tweed has recently developed Chemraz ® 555, a new perfluoroelastomer material for pump housing seals that could help improve businesses’ yields and their MTBF (mean time between failure). The plastic compound offers superior compression set resistance and an upper temperature limit of 600ºF (316ºC). Chemraz 555 meets and exceeds the end user’s need for a reliable, highperformance seal.
The system is menu-prompted to walk the user through setup, calibration and operation. The MicroScatter 90° turbidity sensors are ISO 7027 and U.S. EPA Method 180.1 compliant. MicroScatter 90°turbidimeter systems are available already
According to Greene, Tweed, the perfluoroelastomer seal has a significantly wider operational band than any other perfluoroelastomer on the market. “Chemraz 555 is able to handle a variety of aggressive media, from acids, caustics and aldehydes to hot water, steam amines and methanol, in a range of temperatures and pressures, so customers don’t need several elastomers in inventory to get and keep one entire process up and running,” said Jonathan Pledger, vice president and general manager for Greene, Tweed’s Fluid Handling business.

Hose pump converts wave energy AquaEnergy Development UK Limited has developed a hose pump for AquaEnergy’s AquaBuOY technology, an offshore wave energy converter. The Hose-Pump is a slender hollow elastic cylinder capable of pumping fluid when it is extended and contracted. When
the Hose-Pump is connected to a buoy, wave action can be harnessed to produce pressurised fluid via cyclic extensions. Multiple devices coupled to a standard hydro-power turbine and generator provide a complete conversion solution from wave energy to electricity.
Finavera Renewables says that the technology could lead to a large carbon saving potential. It is estimated that every 200MW of renewable energy generated using the technology would result in the reduction of CO2 emissions by 130,000 metric tonnes annually in European markets.
Three models in H20 Jet high Schroeder introduces pressure series particle monitor H2O Jet has launched three models of its new Advantage Series Ultra High Pressure Pump for waterjet applications. The three now models are the H100D Dual Intensifier with a 100 HP motor, that can cope with 60K and 40K psi and pump 2 g/m flow rate; the H50R Two redundant intensifiers with 50 HP motor, that can cope with 60K and 40K psi and pump 1 gal/minute flow rate; and the H50S Single intensifier with 50 HP motor, that can cope with 60K and 40K psi, and pump 1 gal/minute flow rate. pressures up to 1450 psi (100 bar) and viscosities up to 4635 SUS (100 cSt). A small flow of oil is diverted for measurement purposes.
The TCM provides users with a smaller, tougher and more versatile stationary sensor, the company says. It provides instantaneous readings and is able to self-diagnose continuously with error vindication via the status LED.
