Multifluid pumps with good corrosion resistance Australian high-pressure hydraulics specialist Enerpac has developed a range of multifluid handpumps for applications such as pressure testing and the operation of single-acting hydraulics tools and cylinders. The MP series of two-speed hand pumps are said to have good corrosion resistance and come with nitrile seals for use with fluids such as demineralised water, oil-water emulsions, water glycols and mineral oils.

The pumps function from 1101000 bar pressure and optional EDPM ( ethylene propylene diene rubber) seals are available for use

with Skydol or brake fluids. They have impregnated aluminium anodized pump housings and stainless steel internal pumping components. An externally adjustable pressure relief valve is available and a quarter-inch NPTF port for gauges can minimize the risk of overloading and to ensure long, reliable service. This port is similar to a standard NPT (American Nation Pipe Thread) but differs in that it is designed to seal pressure-tight joints without the necessity of using sealing compounds.

New explosion protection available for anti-heeling pump Allweiler AG has expanded the range of applications for its Alltrimm anti-heeling pump. The new pump has the same

dimensions as previous versions but the maximum flow rate is one-third higher at 1300 m3/hour with a maximum

delivery head of 10 m (singlestage) and 20 m (two-stage). It is also available in an explosionprotected version, making it suitable for use in potentially explosive areas such as the cargo holds of container ships, Allweiler says. The Alltrimm range features inline propeller pumps made of seawater-resistant aluminium bronze with reversible hydraulics with the drive included in the pump lobe. It has low mass moment of inertia, due to the small number of rotating parts. The seal design has integrated leak monitoring and three radialshaft sealing rings working in series.

Hose pump designed for challenging chemical applications Bredel Hose Pumps has introduced a hose pump designed for challenging chemical applications. The SPX-DuCoNite pump reportedly has a hightech surface protection making it ultra resistant to aggressive media. The SPX-DuCoNite hose pumps are available in four sizes – with capacities of up to 5,000 l/h and pressures of up to 16 bar. The SPX-DuCoNite is suitable for pumping a variety of harsh materials including sodium hypochlorite, titanium dioxide, sodium hydroxide, catalytic agents, sulphuric acid, lime slurry, acidic liquors, solvents and resins. It has been designed for applications in the areas of drinking-water and waste-water treatment, as well as the food and chemical industries. The hose pumps have no expensive seals to replace, no check valves to clog, and no rotors and stators to wear out, and, contrary to other pump types, a highly abrasive or corrosive nature of chemicals does not affect the pump life. Because of the self-loading design, hose replacement is quick and easy.

Diagonal single vane impellers for low flow, low volume KSB’s D-type impeller designed for KRT and Sewatec waste water pumps is now available especially for low volume flow applications in small municipal plant projects. Previously, only conventional impeller types such as single vane, channel or free flow impellers have been employed in this range (DN 80 DN 150), the company says. The D-type open single vane impeller is highly efficient with the ability to cope with waste water containing long fibres or

solid substances. It incorporates a continuously adjustable wear plate making it possible to maintain efficiency levels over a long period, and when abrasive media are handled. As a result of the trend towards conserving drinking water and separating rainwater and wastewater, the wastewater to be handled has become ‘thicker’. And as the wastewater’s solids content is constantly on the increase, modern sewage treatment

processes must cope with ever decreasing water proportions, KSB says, suggesting that therefore even for small wastewater pumps, operators can demand non-clogging impellers offering reliable operation in spite of high efficiencies. The nonoverloading characteristic also contributes to the operating reliability and makes sure that the pump motor will not be overloaded if the pump operates against very low back pressure.
