in the holiday spirit When two teaspoonfuls of hartshorn (ammonium carbonate), an old German recipe and the services of the United States mail, a community pharmacy and a furniture manufacturing company are combined, a unique project results. Last year the Tell City Chair Company of Tell City, Indiana sent to 7,000 of its customers various mailings to help celebrate the company's 100th anniversary. At Christmas time it was decided, in keeping with the holiday spirit, to send out a favorite local recipe for holiday cookies. And the

recipe used contained hartshorn as one of the ingredients. Realizing that hartshorn is not always available in many parts of the country, the company consulted with Schreiber Drugs in Tell City in the hopes that Schreiber's would supply this necessary ingredient. In a short time 450 pounds of hartshorn were accumulated by APhA member Schreiber. The pharmacy then divided it into 7,000 vials, and enclosed the vial and a recipe in a mailer which Tell City Furniture Company sent to its customers throughout the United States as a holiday greeting.
