INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON THIN SOLID AND LIQUID FILMS Sponsored by the Society of Chemical Industry in association with the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry and the International Association of Colloid and Interface Scientists 11-13 September 1989, University of Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom. Thin films play an extensive role in both traditional and emerging technologies. Examples are foams and emulsions, surface coatings, information storage, display devices, imaging, photoelectronic devices. Both liquid and solid (in particular “self-ordering”) films are involved. The aims of this meeting are to review the current state of research in these broad areas, and to bring together scientists (both academic and industrial) from a wide variety of disciplines who have a common interest in the subject. Authors will be encouraged to submit their contributions for publication in a special issue of Colloids and Surfaces. In addition on 13 September it is planned to hold a meeting to discuss the document being prepared by an IUPAC working party on “Thin Films”. Contact: SC1 Conference secretariat, Mrs A.
