International Technical Commissions resume their activities ( C o m m u n i c a t i o n f r o m ~ke Pq'esident I . S . P . )
The time available during the Sixth Congress at Scheveningen seemed too short for the Technical Commissions to complete their exchanges of information. In addition there were some special tasks recommended during the discussions. Accordingly, Commissions I, II, III, and VI voted to continue their activities between the VI a~d V I I Congresses. Since then the Italian and Swedish S~cieties have informed the Internationa] Council t h a t they also would like to continue the activities of Commissions IV and V. The International Council has requested the president of each commission to resume its activities as soon as practicable. Each member of each commission will be invited to report his country's chief interests in the activities of his commission to its president. I t is probable t h a t questions have arisen concerning the work and instruments reported a t the VI Congres in addition to those questions not completely discussed there. If t h e questions and fields of interest are fully and frankly communicated by the commission members much valuable exchange of information is bound to result. The exchange will also point out the most useful items for the final questionnaire and r e p o r t of each commission to the VII Congress. Some specific tasks were approved a t the VI Congress. Commission I is to t r y to develop tests for lenses t h a t can be made without excessive expense in each national laboratory and will reveal superior qualities as well as the defects of lenses for use in photogrammetry. It is hoped t h a t satisfactory international s t a n d a r d tests can be worked out in time for approval of the V I I Congress. Commission VI assumed the task of compiling a concise history of the developments in photogrammetry from accounts to be written by each national society while some Of the individuals who had a large share in the developments are still with us to insure an accurate and adequate record. Bibliographies and terminologies compiled or to be compiled by national societies are to be coordinated and edited for international use. There is much to be gained by full, free exchange of information about our rapidly developing photogrammetry. The international commission members, if they accept their responsibilities, can insure t h a t their own country cooperates fully and benefits greatly in the exchanges. The members thus f a r selected for each commission are: Commission I --
