WPIL acquires Gruppo Aturia
Flowserve wins US$18mn order in Peru
India’s WPIL Group has bought the Italian pump group Gruppo Aturia SpA and its subsidiaries Rutschi Fluid AG, Switzerland and Pompes Rutschi SAS, France.
Flowserve Corp’s operations in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and in Lawrence, Massachusetts, USA have received orders worth US$18 million to supply pumping systems for the Petroperú Talara refinery in Piura, Peru.
Gruppo Aturia has two main divisions: Aturia (industrial pumps) and Rutschi (nuclear and special pumps). Milan-based Aturia manufactures industrial and fire fighting pumps at facilities in Gessate, Turin and Rovigo, Italy. Aturia acquired Rotos and Marelli in 1990, Audoli & Bertola in 2003 and Aris Chiappa in 2009. Rutschi has operations in Brugg, Switzerland and Mulhouse, France. The company has more than 100 nuclear installations worldwide
and is now targeting the chemical and API 685 markets, with a major focus on pumps for nuclear submarines. Gruppo Aturia has a consolidated turnover of €45 million and 250 employees. WPIL (formerly Worthington Pump India Ltd) produces pumps for power/municipal and industrial applications, with facilities in India, South Africa, Australia and the UK. Grundfos appoints new COO Stéphane Simonetta is joining the Grundfos Group as the company’s new executive vice president and head of operations (chief operating officer) from 1 September 2015. Simonetta, 43, brings 18 years of experience in supply chain, lean manufacturing and operations, primarily in the automotive industry, to the Danish pump manufacturer. He joins Grundfos from Honeywell Transportation Systems, where he is vice president of operations based in Rolle, Switzerland. Before that he was head of supply chain at Honeywell Transportation Systems. Simonetta has also served as director of Valeo’s Group China Supply Chain and Production, based in Shanghai, China

and as supply chain director Europe for one of Valeo’s businesses. Grundfos president Mads Nipper said: “Stéphane’s solid experience and ideas will be most valuable for the deployment of our business strategy 2020, where one of our key focus areas is our supply chain. We want to build an endto-end supply chain as a competitive advantage by aligning front and back end in order to satisfy demand across value chains and leveraging our scale in manufacturing, procurement, and logistics.” Simonetta will join the Grundfos Group Management and report directly to Nipper. More than seven types of Flowserve pump will be installed at the refinery, including horizontal overhung process pumps and horizontal between-bearing pumps.
The project, led by Spanish contractor Técnicas Reunidas, will upgrade the Talara refinery and allow it to produce gasoline and diesel fuels while meeting Peru’s new environmental standards. This is the refinery’s first major pump installation since the 1970s. Local support will be provided by the Flowserve Quick Response Center in Lima. www.flowserve.com
Interpump seals Bertoli purchase Interpump Group is moving into food pumps with the acquisition of Bertoli srl, a Parma, Italy-based manufacturer of homogenizers and high pressure plunger pumps, in a €7.3 million deal. The acquisition of Bertoli reinforces Interpump’s leadership in high pressure plunger pumps.
With a 2014 turnover of €11.2 million, Bertoli mainly serves the food, chemicals and cosmetics industries. In the first four months of 2015, net sales increased more than 30% on the same period of 2014. www.interpumpgroup.it www.bertoli-homogenizers.com
Xylem wins Flygt order for Vietnamese irrigation Xylem Inc has secured a US$1.7 million contract from Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to design and supply advanced water pumping technologies for an irrigation project in Vietnam. Xylem’s Flygt PL7105 / 885 (270kW) pumps, Flygt MAS 711 monitoring solution as well as piping and installation expertise will help to provide a reliable water supply at
the Phu My pumping station in Bac Ninh province. The plant is due to be operational by the end of 2015. The project is part of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s ‘Strengthening Water Management and Irrigation Systems Rehabilitation Project’ to improve the province’s irrigation capacity. www.xyleminc.com
