Scalp melanoma may be associated with higher failure rates than melanomas of other sites. High distant and local scalp failure rates are seen in patients with stage II and III melanoma. Scalp melanoma is an aggressive malignancy and may represent a subcategory of melanoma deserving special clinical consideration.
