tween different religious groups in the places of worship, amusing and intriguing; the excavations and historical sights, probably unmatched; and the selection of gustatory pleasures, enormous and exquisite. Indeed, from what I saw, the country is a tourist's paradise, many of its sights still being developed or re-discovered. For example, during my visit, an early version of the Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem (Fig. 2) was being excavated, having only recently been unearthed during road construction. Back to the purpose of my trip, the planning of
the Congress. It is in good hands. A provisional program of many sessions has already been outlined. Molecular neuroimmunology will figure prominently. The Israeli Congress Program Organizing Committee assures me it will be a scientific masterpiece. It is to be held in the Jerusalem Hilton (a new hotel, 5-10 minutes, in a taxi, from the Old City), in front of which a large Convention Center is nearing completion. It is in the latter where our sessions will be held. I left Israel secure in the thought that the Congress will be well attended and truly representative of the field. The efforts of all those who helped launch the Second Congress in Philadelphia, PA, U.S.A. in 1987, have provided a useful template for our Israeli colleagues and deserve acknowledgement. So then, what are you waiting for? Pencil it in on your calendar - -
