ITT’s water spinoff company to be called Xylem ITT Corporation’s water technology and services business will be named Xylem when it becomes a standalone company later this year. Xylem is the tissue that transports water in plants. The new Xylem will consist of ITT’s Water & Wastewater (including wastewater transport; biological, filtration and
disinfection treatment and analytics), Residential & Commercial Water and Flow Control businesses. The company will operate in two segments: Water Infrastructure, covering the transportation, treatment and testing of water; and Applied Water, focusing on the residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural markets.
ITT’s core industrial business will continue under the ITT Corporation name. The new ITT Corporation will operate in four segments: Industrial Process, which includes industrial pumps, valves and monitoring and controls; Motion Technologies; Interconnect Solutions; and Control Technologies. www.itt.com/transformation
Flowserve expands in India Flowserve Corp is investing US$30 million to expand and upgrade its pump manufacturing facilities in Coimbatore, India. Flowserve will add a third facility to its Coimbatore campus that will produce high-energy pumps used
in nuclear and fossil fuel power plants. The Flowserve Coimbatore campus already has two manufacturing facilities that produce industrial and engineered pumps. “This key strategic initiative will give Flowserve a local source for
high-energy pumps and allow us to participate in the rapid growth in both the nuclear and fossil fuel power generation markets in India,” said Flowserve Flow Solutions Group president Tom Ferguson. www.flowserve.com
Garlock buys pump diaphragm line Garlock Sealing Technologies LLC (GST) has acquired the ONE-UP pump diaphragm business from WL Gore & Associates Inc. Manufacturing of the ONE-UP pump diaphragm product line will be relocated from Gore’s facility in Elkton, Maryland, to
Garlock Sealing Technologies’ plant in Palmyra, New York. Garlock Sealing Technologies will continue to exclusively use Gore’s PTFE material to manufacture the ONE-UP family of products. “The acquisition of this product line is a very exciting opportunity for GST. It underscores that the

Energy Recovery consolidates manufacturing Energy Recovery Inc is moving its pump and turbocharger assembly operations from Michigan to the company’s existing headquarters and production centre in San Leandro, California. Energy Recovery expects the consolidation to significantly reduce costs, improve efficiencies and enhance research and development efforts.

Sulzer completes Cardo Flow acquisition Swiss engineering giant Sulzer is now a major player in the wastewater pump market having completed the acquisition of Cardo Flow Solutions in a CHF852 million deal. The acquired business will be fully integrated into Sulzer Pumps. The initial phase of the integration process is expected to take about nine months. www.sulzer.com
JDA Global opens facility in China JDA Global LLC has opened JDA Global Pump (Shanghai) Co Ltd in China. The new 15 000 sq ft facility, located just outside Shanghai, will provide NOMAD products for distributors and customers in Europe/Africa, Middle East and Asia/Pacific. NOMAD provides aftermarket parts, including elastomer and non-elastomer parts for air-operated double diaphragm pumps. JDA Global Pump (Shanghai) will mirror JDA Global’s California, USA facility by providing aftermarket diaphragm pump parts from its fully stocked Chinese warehouse.
