Carpenter changes director voting rules Carpenter Technology has amended the company’s by-laws to adopt a majority vote standard for uncontested director elections. ‘The board’s decision to adopt a majority voting standard demonstrates the company’s strong commitment to a sound governance framework,’ said Gregory Pratt, Carpenter’s chairman of the board. ‘We

Berkshire Hathaway buys Precision Castparts in billion dollar deal Berkshire Hathaway is to acquire PM component manufacturer Precision Castparts Corp (PCC) for around US$37.2 billion. ‘I’ve admired PCC’s operation for a long time,’ said Warren E. Buffett, Berkshire Hathaway chairman and CEO. ‘For good reasons, it is the supplier of choice for the world’s aerospace industry, one of the largest sources of American exports. Berkshire’s board of directors is proud that PCC will be joining Berkshire.’
