Dear Editor, We want to make a clarification to the stated reason for the retractions of ‘‘Related transcriptional enhancer factor-1 induces fibroblast growth factor receptor-1 expression in endothelial cells” in BBRC 380 (2009) 689–694 and ‘‘Hypoxia-induced expression of RTEF-1 (related transcriptional enhancer factor-1) in endothelial cells is independent of HIF-1 (hypoxia-inducible factor-1)” in BBRC 381 (2009) 333–338. Though the stated reason for these retractions is that ‘‘the corresponding author published the paper without the full consent or acknowledgement of all the researchers,” the author, in fact, published our lab’s preliminary research data without notifying us, who were listed as co-authors on these papers. We have also discovered several data errors in the two articles. In addition, the author used an incorrect variation of Dr. Jian Li’s email address so that the edi-

tor’s notification regarding the publication process was never received. We were not aware of the submission and publication of these articles.
