BoneKEy-Osteovision (http://www.bonekey-ibms.org) Managing Editor Background: The International Bone and Mineral Society is recruiting for the position of a half-time Managing Editor for the BoneKEy-Osteovision Knowledge Environment web site. BoneKEy was launched in 2002 and currently has over 13,500 registered users worldwide. The Managing Editor will work closely with the editors to assist in the development and publishing of original scientific content. Job Description: Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief, the Managing Editor will assist in the development of the original scientific content for the BoneKEy site by: •working closely with the editors in the selection of authors and recruitment of manuscripts •writing news stories to report on significant new research and clinical findings •writing and/or supporting the writing of reports on scientific meetings •establishing active communications with leading scientists in the field The Managing Editor will coordinate and support the publication process of original content of the BoneKEy site by: •working closely with the editors, authors, and publisher •managing the copyeditor •collaborating with the editors to develop publication stylesheets and standards •providing quality control for all published manuscripts including ensuring publications meets publishers’ technical standards The Managing Editor will have an in-depth understanding of the scientific literature of the bone field and keep abreast of the current literature in the field by: •working closely with the editors and members of the editorial board •scanning and reading current research publications •attending professional conferences •establishing active communications with scientists in the field •staying current with industry news Qualification: Advanced degree, preferably in one of the basic science disciplines, familiarity with the bone field a plus. Knowledge and experience in scientific writing and publishing process. Great communication and interpersonal skills. Boston, MA location.
