FLOTATION APPARATUS Schneider John C Acton, CANADA assinged to Hydrochem Developments Ltd A flotation apparatus has an array of flotation cells which are in serial fluid flow communication from a first to a last cell. Each cell is in overflow communication with an overflow froth receiving receptacle which preferably has a top lip of slightly varying height in each cell. Air inlet and mechanical agitation are provided for each cell and are so positioned to promote an upright circular fluid flow in each cell toward the froth receiving receptacle. Each cell has internal surfaces shaped and oriented to promote the upright circular fluid flow and to discourage the creation of reverse eddy currents within the cell.

COMPOSITION FOR FROTH FLOTATION OF MINERAL ORES C O M P R I S I N G A M I N E AND FROTHER Laskowski Janusz; Wang Qu; Alonso Elena Richmond, CANADA assigned to The University of British Columbia A composition, adapted to be used in the flotation of ore fractions in aqueous suspension, with the advantages of better dispersability of the amine and improved flotation results. The composition consists essentially of: (a) water; (b) a long chain aliphatic amine; and (c) a frother. The composition may further contain a carboxylic or mineral acid emulsifier.

MEMBRANE WASHING APPARATUS FOR FLOTATION DEVICE Bourke Peter G Perth, AUSTRALIA assigned to Supaflo Technologies Pty Ltd A flotation device which includes a tank to contain a slurry incorporating minerals which are to be extracted. Aeration of the slurry by suitable structure
in the device produces a zone of mineralised froth above the slurry. A launder directs the mineralised froth away from the tank. At least one porous diffusion surface in direct contact with the froth dispenses a washing liquid directly into the froth zone. 5512133
METHOD FOR DEINKING RECYCLED PAPER USING A LOW FLOW ELONGATED OPEN TOP FLOTATION VESSEL Markham Larry D Mobile, AL, UNITED STATES assigned to International Paper Company A method for producing substantially ink-free pulp from recycle printed paper comprising f'n'stpulping the recycle paper in a hydrapulper with at least water and an agglomerating agent thereby producing a pulp. Ink particle agglomerates in the pulp are then removed by screening the pulp through at least one screen and by cleaning the pulp in a cyclone cleaner. Pulp together with small ink particles that escape the prior separation stages is then conducted from the cyclone cleaner through a standpipe at a consistency of about or less than 1% where particles of ink associate with small air bubbles and are elevated to the surface of the pulp where they accumulate as a froth which may be removed by overflowing. The process substantially reduces the amount of ink particles in recycled pulp as compared with conventional agglomeration deinking methods without the expense and complexity of traditional flotation cells, and also greatly reduces the amount of fiber loss associated with ink particle separation using conventional flotation methods. 5512636
CATIONIC GRAFT POLYMER AGGLOMERATION AGENTS FOR MINERAL BEARING ORES Polizzotti David; Liao Wen P; Roe Donald C North Yardley, PA, UNITED STATES assigned to Betz Laboratories Inc Agglomerating agent and method for use in heap leaching of mineral bearing ores. Cationic polymers alone or in combination with cement or lime are highly effective agglomerating agents in acidic or alkaline leaching operations. The cationic polymers are preferably graft copolymers, block copolymers or linear copolymers of acrylamide and diailyl dimethyl ammonium chloride.
