F r a n k E. De La Croix was born July 27, 1912, New Trenton, Indiana, on a farm in the southern p a r t of the state. Here, he received his grade school education and attended the Whitewater High School at Cedar Grove, Indiana, graduating in 1931. A f t e r spending some time operating a farm with his father, C. J. De La Croix, from 1930 to 1934, he entered Purdue University School

of Agriculture, West Lafayette, Indiana, and graduated with a B.A. degree in 1939. De La Croix was then employed by Sears Roebuck and Company, Chicago, Illinois, as a buyer in the F a r m Department from 1939 through 1941. At this time he returned to Indiana as

AFFAIRS Assistant County Agricultural Agent, Benton County, Fowler, Indiana, a position which he held from 1941 through 1943. He then was appointed County Agricultural Agent of Jasper County, Rensselaer, Indiana, and served in this position the last half of 1943 through 1945. I n 1945, De La Croix was appointed Extension Dairyman at Purdue University and served in this capacity until December, 1951. I n 1951 he accepted the job of Extension Representative for American Breeders Service, Chicago, Illinois, and was District Sales Manager. As District Sales Manager De La Croix was responsible for the artificial breeding program in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky. I n addition to these duties, he also served as director of a Technician's Training School from 1951 to 1957. This school was designed to train technicians from all parts of the United States for American Breeders Service. In 1945 and 1946, Mr. De La Croix again enrolled in Purdue University and had a partial fulfillment of a Masters degree in Agriculture. While on the Purdue staff, he co-authored one station circular and assisted with a number of other publications put out by the Extension Department. He was married August 14, 1938 to Alma Knollman of Harrison, Ohio, and is survived by her and their four children, Robert, Ruth Ann, Margaret, and Clifford. He has been active in the Purdue Agricultural Alumni Association, and served three years is its president. He also has taken p a r t in the forming of a Toastmaster's Club and assisted with 4-H Club work in the community. In other comnmnity activities, he is active in church work, and has served on a number of committees through the Elks Club and other service club functions.
