NEWS International News The Dominican Endodontic Society will host a continuing education course for Spanish speaking countries. The course wilt be co-sponsored by the Dominican Dental Assocation and various universities in the Dominican Republic. The course will address clinical endodontics for general practitioners and will be approximately twenty hours in length. Drs. Jose M. Heredia and Eduardo Khouri, both of whom are clinicians and faculty members, will be the guest lecturers. Further information on dates, times, location, program outline and curriculum, is available upon request to: Sociedad Dominicana de Endodonticia, P. O. Box 811-2, Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana.

ABE Exams Applications for the ABE written examination, which will be held in Chicago on Thursday, November 14, 1985, are available upon request from the Secretary of the American Board of Endodontics, 211 East Chicago Ave., Suite 830, Chicago, IL 60611. Applications are accepted at any time. However, preliminary applications for the 1985 written examination must be postmarked by September 1, 1985 to be accepted. Applications postmarked after this date will be processed for the 1986 written examination.

In Memoriam Dr. Matthew Eisenman passed away on April 1, 1985. Dr. Eisenman was born in 1905 and attended the University of Pennsylvania, from which he received his dental degree in 1929. He joined the Association in 1951. At the time of his death, Dr. Eisenman was a resident of West Palm Beach, Florida and a retired member of the Association. Dr. Janis Auzins Jr. recently passed away while on active duty in Germany. Dr. Auzins was born February 7, 1931. He attended the University of Michigan Dental School where he also did some postgraduate work. He joined the AAE in 1964 after having served as chief of the Endodontics Section at Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas. Dr. Auzins was described as an "intelligent, wellread dentist" with "kindly consideration for his patients" and "a comprehensive knowledge of the field of endodontics." Dr. Charles J. Hrutkay of Beachwood Ohio. Dr. Hrutkay was born January 28, 1911. He attended Case Western Reserve University from which he obtained his DDS in 1945. Dr. Hrutkay, who joined the Association in 1964, spent some time in the U.S. Army Dental Corps prior to being in private practice. He also taught Oral Diagnosis and Treatment Planning at the dental school of Case Western Reserve University and was associate professor of Endodontics and Radiology. During his career Dr. Hrutkay was a member of the Cleveland Dental Society, the Ohio State Dental Society and the American Dental Association.
