News of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies
1.
We have received three applications for membership. (a) The "Asian Neurosurgical Society" applied to be accepted as a national and supranational general Neurosurgical Society with -+ 40 qualified neurosurgeons. A list of members has not yet been received. We hope to receive this list before the meeting in Toronto so that this application can be placed on the agenda of the Executive Committee meeting. (b) The Bulgarian Neurosurgical Society and the Rumanian Neurosurgical Society have applied for affiliated membership. When we have received all the required documents, these applications can also be considered in Toronto.

A Questionnaire has been sent to the secretaries of the Societies, which have applied for hosting the International Congress in 1989 (New Delhi, Bangkok, New Orleans, Seoul). We will send the results of the Questionnaire to the Members of the Executive Committee, so that they will have some information before the election during the first meeting of the Executive Committee in Toronto.

The preliminary program of the business meetings in Toronto is: (a) Committee meetings on Saturday morning July 6th, the Administrative Council Meeting on Saturday afternoon, and the first Executive Committee Meeting on Sunday morning July 7th. (b) These Meetings will take place in the Sheraton Centre, while the second Executive Committee Meeting on Tuesday, July 9th and the third on Thursday, July 11th will take place in the Convention Centre. (c) It is our pleasure to announce, that there will be a reception of the Lieutenant-Governor on the evening of Saturday, July 6th for the officers and delegates. Therefore, all the members of the Executive Committee will have the opportunity to see each other before the meeting on Sunday morning.

Last but not least we really hope, that the enthusiasm of the Congress officers will be rewarded by a great number of participants in Toronto. So please do activate your fellow members to take part in the Congress, which promises to be a great event.
