The Ninth World Congress of the International Federation for Theory of Machines and Mechanisms (IFToMM) will be held at Politecnico di Milano. The scientific and technical program will consist of contributed papers, special seminars, invited general lectures. Special Forums with discussions, technical visits, on the integrated mechanical engineering, proposed with reference to particular topics also with the presence and support of international institutions and industries, will be organized. Scientific and Technical Program - - Topics The Congress will cover the general area of Machines and Mechanisms in Mechanics. The topics will include: • • • • • • • •
Kinematic analysis and synthesis of mechanisms Dynamics of machines Gearing and transmissions Rotor dynamics Vibration and noise in machines Biomechanics Robots, manipulators, walking machines Man-machine systems
• Micromechanisms • Mechatronics • Linkages and cams • CAD of Machines and Mechanisms • Experimental methods • Teaching methods • Technology transfer
IFToMM Proceedings have become a part of the fundamental literature on Mechanics and Machines Mechanisms. The 1995 proceedings, containing the general lectures and papers presented, will be available at the Congress. Lectures and Forums The scientific and technical program will include: General lectures by internationally renowned engineers on topics of mechanics. - Informal open forums on topics of international importance to mechanical theoreticians and designers to maximize exchange of ideas between Congress attendees. Topics could be in the field of health, technological transfer, robotics, project and design, economics, computers, space, quality of life, environment, communications, transportation, etc. - Seminars on the different activities of IFToMM by the various Committees of the Federation. - - A special Session on the results of the European Community Projects, Erasmus and ECTS in the frame of Erasmus, under the auspices of the European Community Commission. The General Assembly of IFToMM will be held during the Congress. - -

Call for Papers The Program Committee invites persons interested in presenting a paper to send and abstract (not less than 300 words) to the Organizing Secretariat: MGR Congressi - via Servio Tullio, 4 - 20123 Milano, Italy - Tel. +39-2-43007.1; Fax +39-2-48008471. The deadline for receipt is 21 July 1994. Authors will be notified of the acceptance of their abstracts by October 1994.
