VIII + 58 pp., 18 fig. S. Karger, Basel/Mtinchen/Paris/New York, 1970. DM 20,-; us $ 4.80. The author performed investigations in guinea-pigs and women. The purpose of his investigations is rather difficult to grasp. The influence of PMS, HCG, clomiphen, ethinylestradiol and combinations of estrogens and gestagens on ovulation was studied. Prior to ovulation ascorbic acid is taken up by the follicles. In women urinary excretion of ascorbic acid is a preovulatory sign. The investigations are not very well designed. A large part is repetitive and confusing. The phrasing is obscure and statistical evaluation is nearly completely lacking. L. A. M.
