INSPECTION OF WATER SUPPLIES.
APPOINTMENTS.
To t~e Editor of PUBLIC HEALTH.
SIR,--I wish to correct an error in the report of mF remarks upon Dr. Bostock Hill's pxper, read before the Birmingham and Midland Branch on J,anuary 6th, published in the February number of PUBLIC HEALTH, I am reported to have said that chemical examination was of more importance than simple inspection of water and surroundings, or than bacteriological examination. What I said was that simple inspection by competent persons was in most cases more important and more valuable than either bacteriological or chemical examination. The examples I gave of insanitary water works construetion and surroundings recently discovered in a large Midland town were given to illustrate the truth of this statement. I am, Sir, Yours faithfully, PHILIP BOOBBYER.
