UTC puts Milton Roy and Pentair to merge with Sundyne up for sale Tyco Flow Control Pump manufacturers Milton Roy and Sundyne are among a number of businesses that United Technologies Corp (UTC) plans to sell in order to fund the proposed US$16.5 billion cash acquisition of Goodrich Corp later this year. UTC businesses identified for sale include Hamilton Sundstrand Industrial’s Milton Roy, Sullair and Sundyne, as well as Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne and Clipper Windpower.

Headquartered in Ivyland, Pennsylvania, Milton Roy specialises in fluid control and odourisation technologies, including metering and centrifugal pumps. Xylem adds new Moscow base Xylem Inc has opened a new distribution and customer service centre in Moscow, Russia. The company’s expanded presence in Russia will focus on boosting sales and distribution, improving relationships with Russian customers and delivering local customer service, after-sales support, application engineering and training. The Moscow team will concentrate on core markets, including

wastewater transport and treatment, energy-efficient heating, ventilation and air conditioning for residential and commercial buildings, and water solutions for light industry, agriculture and irrigation. Grundfos protects Abu Dhabi oil refinery Grundfos has shipped 10 vertical fire pumps to an oil refining company in Abu Dhabi. Each pump weighs 13 000 kgs, is 20.3 metres long and 5.2 metres wide and is made of super duplex stainless steel. In the event of a fire, the 10 diesel driven, UL and FM approved, vertical fire pumps

will help protect the Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Co facility which handles about 400 000 barrels of oil per day. The order, which Grundfos secured from Samsung Engineering in 2010, was the largest fire pump project ever handled by the company. http://us.grundfos.com

Pentair Inc is to combine with Tyco International Ltd’s Flow Control business in a tax-free, all-stock merger. The new merged company will be called Pentair and will be led by Randall Hogan, Pentair’s current chairman and CEO. The transaction values Tyco Flow Control at approximately US$4.9 billion, including assumed net debt and minority interest. The merged company has estimated pro forma 2012 revenues of US$7.7 billion. “The addition of Tyco Flow perfectly aligns with Pentair’s

Weir delivers slurry pumps for cutter dredgers The new Weir Minerals sales and service centre in Nederweert, the Netherlands, has just supplied €750 000 worth of slurry pumps and spare parts to international marine contractor Van Oord.

The slurry pumps and spare parts are for two new Van Oord cutter dredgers - the Athena and Artemis. Van Oord has more than 150 Weir Minerals pumps operating worldwide.

Tony Locke, managing director of Weir Minerals Europe, said: “Our new centre in Nederweert is a key hub from which we can support a wide variety of mineral processing or slurry handling industries across the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. It is essential in supporting our expansion both geographically and outside of our core mining customer base.”

Ebara wins Ichthys LNG contract Ebara International Corp’s Cryodynamics Division has been awarded the contract for the main LNG and LPG submersible cryogenic pumps and liquid expanders for the Ichthys LNG Project in Australia.

The total package includes 20 pumps and four expanders. The pump contract was awarded by the EPC contractor JKC Ichthys LNG Joint Venture. www.ebaraintl.com
