dard) eliminate expensive stuffing box leakage and make it capable of handling ethylene glycol solutions for chilled water applications and work with temperatures to 225°F for hot water applications. The gland is provided in series 300 stainless steel to prevent corrosion. For ease of maintenance, its axially-split case design allows for removal of the rotating element without disturbing piping or motor. A cast bronze, one piece hydraulically and dynamically balanced impeller provides vibration-free performance and assures longer bearing and mechanical seal life. For further ease of maintenance, the impeller is keyed to the shaft and held in place with retaining rings.

Composite material bears superior wear properties Tufnol has e n h a n c e d its product range with the launch of a new composite bearing material. The n e w grade, called Tufnol CBM 2008, has been developed to give excellent friction and wear performance and is expected to find a wide range of bearing uses in engineering and marine applications. It has good dimensional stability in water, oil or grease and bearings can be installed without making allowance for absorption. The material uses a special formulation of friction modifying additives, developed to give first class performance with minimum wear.Tufnol produces the material in sheets and tubes, but bearings and wear resistant c o m p o n e n t s are machined to order in their machine shops. The wide range of sizes avail-

Plastic p u m p s boast ultraefficient valving IIII

Warren Rupp has announced the launch of a new line of nonmetal SandPiper IITM plastic pumps. All pumps in the new line have a rugged, bolted design, in which V-band clamps are not used. This results in a much stronger construction, and easier maintenance. The new pumps also feature the latest design of noqube, nonstall air valve, which is more energy efficient than ever. ESADS+Plus ®, an externally serviceable air distribution system, carries a money-back guarantee. The modular air valve has no close-fitting components and is very tolerant of dirty or wet compressed air. The new line provides unprecedented interchangeability of parts from model to model. This means a smaller inventory of normalwearing parts.
Warren Rupp's SandPiper II ~' plastic pump range. Suitable for aggressive chemicals, the new SandPiper II plastic p u m p s are offered in PVDF or polypropylene, with Santoprene ® or Teflon ® diaphragms and ball valves. Spill containment, leak detection and pulse output interface options
