Faculty Position in Nutritional Biochemistry; DEPARTMENT OF FOOD SCIENCE, UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT URBANA-CHAMPAIGN. Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Science at the University of Illinois-Urbana. The successful candidate will be expected to teach an advanced undergraduate course concerning the biochemical aspects of human nutrition, and develop an advanced course in his/her area of specialization. Research responsibilities will involve development of an internationally recognized research program in the area of molecular and biochemical nutri-

tion. It is expected that the successful candidate will be appointed to the faculty of the Division of Nutritional Sciences. Starting date August 21, 1992. Congressional Science Fellowship, 1992-1993, sponsored by THE FEDERATION OF AMERICAN SOCIETIES OF FOOD ANIMAL SCIENTISTS (FASFAS) Program. The fellow selected will spend about one year working as a special legislative assistant on the staff of a member of Congress or a congressional committee, advising on a wide range of scientific issues as they pertain to public policy. The program includes an orientation on congressional and executive branch operations and a year-long seminar program on issues involving science and public policy. Purpose. To make practical contributions to the more effective use of scientific and technical knowledge in government, to demonstrate the value of such science-government interaction, and to provide a unique public learning experience. Criteria. A Ph.D. degree in an area of food animal sciences is required. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional competence in communication skills in food animal science and have knowledge of food animal sciences beyond the candidate's particular discipline; be cognizant of a broad range of issues relating to the food animal industry; and demonstrate sensitivity toward political and social issues. Extension Poultry Specialist; DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL SCIENCE, UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN. Tenure-leading, 12-month position at Assistant or Associate Professor rank. Partial research appointment is possible depending on interests and qualifications. Will develop and lead poultry production extension programs in the department and supervise youth programs in poultry. Team efforts with Extension Avian Veterinarian and poultry extension personnel in neighboring states are expected. Must work closely with the poultry industry to develop and conduct educational programs, translate research for industry application, and help solve management, nutrition, and production problems. Will also serve as liaison with organizations and government divisions that relate to the poultry industry. Requires Ph.D. in Poultry Science, Animal Science, or related field with emphasis in poultry management, nutrition, or physiology. Experience in poultry production and management along with knowledge of the commercial poultry industry expected.
