Post Conference Seminar No. 2

Assuring Structural Integrity of Steel Reactor Pressure Boundary Components 23-25 August 1993, Paris, France In operating plants, assurance of pressure boundary integrity derives from a broad and growing base of information that includes operating experience, ongoing materials research, component and systems testing and results of in-service inspections or in-plant monitoring programs, in addition to preservice considerations of design, materials selection and fabrication. This seminar will emphasize applications of such information in comprehensive approaches toward conforming and maintaining pressure boundary integrity (including the NDE-related issues), preventing failures and quantifying margins of safety. Emphasis will be placed on integration of knowledge and competences for the resolution of practical integrity issues for operating 179 Int. J. Pres. It is assumed that the details of research results or the progress of cooperative programs would have been presented in the SMiRT sessions. Further details may be obtained from Andr6 Pellissier Tanon at Framatome, 1 Place de la Couplole, Paris La D6fense Cedex 16, France; tel: 33 1 47 96 04 68; fax 47 96 33 35.
