This seminar considers the effects of fast transient loadings in the context of structural mechanics. The fast transient loadings will be limited to the categories of missile impact, impulsive loadings due to blast waves, jet impingements, wave slam, etc., for nuclear and non-nuclear applications. Topics to be discussed are as follows. ---Numerical aspects. --Constitutive modelling. --Selected experiments and recent case studies which document the above topics will also be considered. The seminar is intended to be an experts-workshop where genuine solutions for common problems are sought and discussed. Presentations will be delivered in the form of keynote state-of-the-art lectures by distinguished experts in the field. Prospective contributors for the poster-session should submit a 300-word summary to Dr W. J. Ammann.
