2013 International Workshop on Body Area Sensor Networks (BASNet-2013)

Preface Zahoor A. Khan Facutly of Engineering, Dalhousie University, Canada

Nadeem Javaid CA ST, COMSA TS IIT, Pakistan

The use of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is increasing in many fields. The monitoring of physiological or biochemical parameters for different diseases in human body is very challenging for WSN. Body Area Sensor Networks (BASN), an emerging interdisciplinary field, addresses and overcomes these challenges. BASN has many applications related to a person’s health and wellness. Body sensors are used to get the data from the body and transfer these data to the healthcare center. The advancement of wearable and implant sensor technology is improving significantly. The International Workshop on Body Area Sensor Networks (BASNet-2013) provides a multi-disciplinary collaborative forum for researchers and practitioners to submit papers with novel ideas, innovative solutions, and research results related to the field of the Body Area Sensor Networks. The workshop also invites researchers to submit original work on sensors communication. Authors, from all around the world including Switzerland, Canada, USA, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Qatar and Netherlands, submitted their high quality papers. Each submitted paper was reviewed by two or three well reputed experts during the peer review process. BASNet-2013 received 15 papers through the assigned paper submission system “EasyChair”. Based on the comments provided by the reviewers, the technical program committee of BASNet-2013 accepted 10 papers for the publication and oral presentation. We would like to thank BASNet-2013 technical program committee, ANT-2013 organizers and authors to play their roles for the success of this workshop.
