Preface for the special issue on “Advanced Transportation Infrastructure and Materials”
The International Association of Chinese Infrastructure Professionals (IACIP) and Chang'an University jointly hosted the first International Conference on Transportation Infrastructure and Materials (ICTIM) in Xi'an, China on July 16e18, 2016. This conference covered a variety of research topics on transportation infrastructure and materials, including pavement mechanics, geomechanics, highway materials, ground improvement, recycling materials, maintenance and rehabilitation, intelligent construction, infrastructure management, intelligent transportation system, and risk and reliability. Over 200 participants from 11 countries participated in this conference, which included 13 presentation sessions, 2 workshops, and 1 forum. The special issue of Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering (English Edition) (JTTE), on “Advanced Transportation Infrastructure and Materials”, has been developed through the cooperation between the ICTIM organizing committee and the editorial board of JTTE. It contains selected papers from ICTIM 2016, representing the latest development in the field of transportation infrastructure and materials. Authors of these papers are from the United States of America, Germany, Japan, South Africa, etc. The studies presented in this special issue include pavement analysis, advanced roadway materials, pavement management, construction techniques, and emerging technology. The guest editors of this special issue appreciated the chief editor and staff in the editorial office of the Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering (English Edition) for their assistance during the course of organizing and publishing this special issue. Furthermore, the guest editors would like to thank the dedicated reviewers who contributed their valuable time to the reviews of these papers.
