Four new supramolecular complexes based on a new ligand have been constructed and characterized. Interestingly, six or eight-membered hydrogen bonding rings play a key role in the assembly of high-dimensional networks extended by lower dimensional coordination polymers. Among them, complex 2 presents a 3D supramolecular structure with 1D open channels encapsulating NO3) ions.

A series of ortho-metallated Pd(II) complexes containing imine ligands and different types of N-benzoyl thiourea derivatives as co-ligands were prepared and investigated for their liquid crystal properties. Three crystal structures are presented.

Structure and spectral characterisation of copper(II) meclofenamate complexes

Elsevier Ltd.

Characterisation of Cu(meclof)2(2-pyca)2 has been made based on elemental analyses, electronic, IR and EPR spectra. The crystal and molecular structures of Cu(meclof)2(2-pyca)2 were measured. The carboxyl group of the meclofenamate anions coordinates to the Cu(II) atom as an unidentate or as a chelating ligand. On the basis of the spectroscopic parameters observed, a monomeric structure with a tetragonal bipyramidal geometry around the Cu(II) atom is deduced for Cu(meclof)2L2 and for Cu(meclof)2 Æ H2O a dimeric structure is predicted.

Two new complexes were prepared by the template condensation of a previously known ligand, (L22py), and 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde in the presence of Cd(NO3)2 Æ 4H2O or MnCl2 Æ 4H2O in equimolar ratios. The resulting compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single crystal X-ray diffraction, and by NMR in the case of the Cd(II) complex.

The G-dependence for the change of the fine structures from 1 (G = H) to 2 (G = Cl) and 3 (G = Br) in 8-G-1-(p-YC6H4CBCSe)C10H6 are clarified by X-ray analysis, theoretical calculations and NMR data in crystals and in solution.

Salicylaldoxime in manganese(III) carboxylate chemistry: Synthesis, structural characterization and physical studies of hexanuclear and polymeric complexes

The conformational behavior of the third generation antitumor drug, oxaliplatin, has been explored by GGA-PW91 density functional calculations and FT-IR spectra. The electronic properties have also been determined in order to understand its enhanced activity with respect to its first generation analogue, cisplatin.

Reactions of oligonuclear manganese clusters with salicylaldoxime in various solvents afforded hexanuclear and polymeric complexes. Slow magnetic relaxation phenomena have been observed for a hexanuclear complex as evidenced by dc and ac magnetic susceptibility measurements.

The ligands coordinate solely via two of their nitrogen atoms. A reaction of [Re(CO)3(THF)3](NO3) with Ppy3 yielded the complex [Re(CO)3(NO3)(Ppy3-N,N0 )] with a monodentate coordinated nitrato ligand.

Two new supramolecular complexes [Co(tmb)2(4,40 -bpy)2(H2O)2](Htmb)2 (1) and {[Ni(tmb)2(l-4,40 -bpy)2(H2O)2](4,40 -bpy)}n (2), have been prepared hydrothermally and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR, UV/Vis spectra, thermogravimetric analysis and magnetic susceptibility. With the aid of hydrogen bonds, 1 exhibits a square grid network structure and 2 shows the 2-fold interpenetrating framework with CdSO4 topology. Both complexes exhibit antimicrobial activity.

Two approaches to the formation of ruthenium(II) complexes containing ligands with conjugated 2,20 :60 ,200 -terpyridine (tpy), alkynyl and bithienyl units are described, starting with either 40 -(2,20 -bithien-50 -yl)-2,20 :60 ,200 -terpyridine or 40 -ethynyl-2,20 :60 ,200 -terpyridine. The single crystal structure of 40 -(5-bromo-2,2’-bithien-50 -yl)-2,20 :60 ,200 -terpyridine is reported.

tramerization of the novel 3-[(2-diethylamino)ethyl]-7-[(3,4-dicyanophenoxy)]-4-methylcoumarin. The novel chromogenic compounds were characterized by elementel analysis, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, MALDI-TOF, IR and UV–Vis spectral data. The electronic spectra exhibit bands of coumarin identity along with characteristic Q and B bands of the phthalocyanine (Pc) core. The IR spectra of all the Pcs showed three characteristic intense bands, at 1704 cm)1 for the lactone carbonyl and two bands at 1489–1604 cm)1 for the conjugated olefinic system.

Three copper(II) complexes with 6-methylpicolinic and 6-bromopicolinic acid were prepared and characterized by spectroscopic (IR, EPR), thermal methods (TGA/DTA) and by magnetic susceptibility measurements. Their crystal structures were determined by X-ray structural analysis and their magnetic properties discussed in correlation with the structure.

An integrated experimental and theoretical investigation of the vibrational modes and molecular structure of a new Cu(II)–phosphocreatine complex

A highly regioselective method for the synthesis of b-iodohydrins and b-bromohydrins by direct ring opening of epoxides with elemental halogen in the presence of alumina-supported Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) Schiff-base complexes as new catalysts is described. This method occur regioselectively under mild conditions with high yields in various aprotic solvents, even when sensitive functional groups are present.

The reactions of 5-R-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde4-allyl-thiosemicarbazone {R: H (L1); Br (L2)} with [MII(PPh3)nCl2] (M, n = Ni, 2 and Ru, 3) in a 1:1 molar ratio have given the stable solid complexes [Ni(L)(PPh3)] and [Ru(HL)2(PPh3)2]. While the 1:1 nickel complexes are formed from an ONS donor set of the thiosemicarbazone and the P atom of triphenylphosphine in a square planar structure, the 1:2 ruthenium complexes consist of a couple from each of N, S and P donor atoms in a distorted octahedral geometry.

The chemical modification of multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) is an emerging area in material science. In the present study, hydroxyl functionalized manganese(II) Schiff-base has been covalently anchored on modified MWNTs. The new modified MWNTs have been characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron (XPS), thermal analysis, UV–Vis, diffuse reflectance (DRS), FT-IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Multi-wall carbon nanotubes covalently anchored manganese(II) complex ([Mn((OH)2-salen)]@MWNTs) catalyze the oxidation of cyclohexene with TBHP.

This paper deals with the synthesis and characterization of a new complex of Cu(II) of stoichiometry [Cu(PCr)(H2O)]. The calculated vibrational spectrum agrees well with the FT-IR experimental spectrum.

When the reaction conditions are deliberately controlled by the pH, two different polynuclear manganese complexes, (D, K)-{Mn3(phen)2 (CH3COO)6} (1) and [Mn(phen)Cl2]n (2) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), have been synthesized from the same raw materials. The structural analyses show that 1 has a structure formed by neutral chiral linear trinuclear molecules, while 2 has a structure consisting of one-dimensional infinite chains. A study of the temperature dependent magnetic susceptibilities reveal that 1 is an antiferromagnetically coupled trimer molecule while 2 shows ferromagnetic interactions within the chain.

The reaction of Cu2+, Ni2+ and Co2+ ions with a bis-amide ligand functionalized with pyridine moieties gives square planar Na[Cu2(dmptH)3)(CO3)] and octahedral [Ni2(dmptH)2)2] and [Co2(dmptH)3)(l-OH)] complexes. In all cases coordination occurs to the pyridyl and deprotonated amidic nitrogen atoms and to the oxygen atoms of an hydroxyl and a carbonato group for the copper complexes.
