Preface

Proceedings of the 4th International Symposium on Organometals, and Catalysis Lanzhou, China, July 30–August 2, 1999 Organometals and metal complexes are essential for industry and life on earth. In recent years, great progress has been made in the synthesis and study of the properties of organometals and metal complexes. In order to foster the academic exchange among different researchers of the world, the 4th International Symposium on Organometals, and Catalysis ŽOMC-IV. was held on July 30–August 2, 1999 in Lanzhou, China. A total number of 57 plenary lectures, invited lectures, and oral lectures, as well as 51 posters were presented and discussed by more than 100 participants from 10 countries. Catalysis is one of the most important properties of organometals and metal complexes. Various organometals or metal complexes regulate a certain kind of industrial production, pharmaceutical synthesis, and catalysis in cofactors and enzymes. This special issue of the Journal of

Molecular Catalysis A: Chemical is a collection of 21 contributions. The contents of this issue show the developing trend of catalysis in research and industry and indicate future perspectives. We would like to acknowledge the most valuable contributions to the preparation and organization of this symposium by co-chairmen Prof. Yun-Pu Wang, Northwest Normal University, Prof. Ying-Yan Jiang, Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and members from the Organization Committee.
