Viscous liquids, low volumes, no problems Flux Pumps of Dorset, UK, has launched the F550 GS6 progressive cavity pump, which is a deviation of its F550 series especially designed for handling low volumes of high-viscosity media at higher pressure.

Range of hygienic and aseptic pumps grows Netzsch Mohnopumpen GmbH has added four new mini hygienic and aseptic pumps to their existing range. The new products join a total of 53 different designs covering flow rates of .011/min. to 140.000 1/h at a maximum pressure of 36 bar. The new smaller additions are, like their bigger brethren, designed and manufactured in compliance with international standards - for example, EHEDG and QHD regulations. The enhanced range gives end-users more options when choosing the most suitable pump for their particular application.

The F550 GS6 pump is lightweight for easy handling and intended for lifting liquids with viscosities of up to 80,000mPas at lower delivery rates than the standard F550 pump. The drive motor runs at 210rpm or 420rpm are designed to provide smooth operation for gently lifting fragile media.

The new pumps are designed to convey shear-sensitive or highly viscous fluids. The standard equipment is suitable for being integrated in automated CIP processes. Furthermore, the basic aseptic plus pump is designed for highly aseptic and smooth conveyance and may also be integrated in SIP processes. Another positive aspect both pump versions share is a wear/maintenance-free flexible rod, which negates the need for joints.

The GS6 can be supplied with a ceramic oxide mechanical seal or PTFE packed gland, as required. With a variety of stator material options, the pump is suitable for handling oils and fats, corrosive and chemically aggressive media, including food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. The pump features Flux's rapid stripdown technology for easy cleaning. CONTACT Flux Pumps International Ltd., 12 Enterprise Park, Blackmoor Road, Verwood, Dorset, BH31 6YS, England. Cost saving

Servo motors use neodymium Baldor Electric Company has launched the BSM-N Series, a new range of brushless servo motors for precision motion control applications. The new design uses rare earth neodymium iron boron magnets, which provide near-identical low inertia responsiveness to servo motors employing traditional samarium cobalt magnets, but at a typical cost reduction of up to 8%. Blador claim that the cost savings are easy to attain as well because the vast majority of servo applications can easily be switched

from traditional samarium cobalt magnets to neodymium equivalents, without any degradation in performance. The new material offers practically the same stall torque performance in normal conditions. The new range offers users a wide choice of frame sizes with peak torques as high as 40Nm, and a choice of maximum speeds. A blower cooling option is available for most models, which increases torque by 60-80%. BSM-N motors are available in three lengths with single, dual or

triple stacks of magnets, allowing users to match performance characteristics against particular application requirements. Among the materials that have been included is the use of premium 200 °C moisture-resistant multi-coated Class H insulation wire, but with internal thermal switches to protect units to a Class F temperature rise or 155 °C. The windings are a heavy gauge of magnetic wire, and potted for additional insulation protection and improved thermal characteristics.

Among the standard build options included is an enclosure and shaft oil seal to meet IP65, and the provision of an internal holding brake. All units have the CE mark, and additionally comply with UL and CSA standards. A rugged brushless resolver is integrated into the motor for simple system building. Incremental encoders are available optionally. CONTACT Baldor Electric Company, PO Box 2400, Fort Smith, AR 72902-2400, USA. www.baldor.com
