Air cleaners for ford 7.3 diesel trucks Donaldson Membranes has introduced a patented Donaldson aftermarket air cleaner and replacement filter that uses PowerCore Filtration Technology for the air induction systems on Ford 7.3 liter diesel engine trucks. According to the company, the PowerCore filter has twice the amount of filter media as conventional pleated media used in traditional engine filtration solutions. The upgraded air cleaner is designed for greater dust holding capacity and efficiency with no impact to engine performance (airflow) compared to the
originally installed air induction system. The system can be used on 1999 to 2003 Model Year F250-550 Super Duty trucks equipped with the 7.3-litre diesel engine, Donaldson reports. The system is designed for vehicles used in extremely dusty/dirty air conditions, and the increased dust holding capacity of the PowerCore air cleaner allows for much longer duty cycles in the most severe conditions compared to using the stock filtering system. www.donaldson.com
Recovery systems extend coolant service life A range of coolant recovery systems has been developed in the UK that is said to offer real benefits for engineering companies and manufacturers using coolants, lubricants or cutting oils. The company responsible for developing the systems, Clearwater Group, which is based in Napton Holt, UK, claims that the systems extend coolant service life and reduce tooling expenditure dramatically. The different machines comprising the range are referred to as the workshop system, which offers throughputs from 20 l/h, the dedicated factory system, rated at 2000 l/h to 30 000 l/h, and the high capacity system, capable of throughputs in excess of 30 000 litres/h. The technologies used in these systems include vertical gravity separation and hydrocyclones.
Ford Dagenham, Braemar and Land Rover are among current users of Clearwater filtration systems. Ford has benefited greatly from the dedicated factory system. It says that its wheel-rim forming operation has seen a payback for the system of less than a month. After it had been installed, large savings were achieved by reducing costs associated with coolant recycling, reduction of scrap and tankering. The car maker says that one year after installing the system, it has achieved cost savings of UK£285,000. In addition, it has halved its tooling costs. Clearwater coolant recovery systems offer additional benefits, including a reduction in bacteria, mould and nauseating smells, and generally create a cleaner environment. www.clearwatergroup.co.uk
