Pipe stress analysis software for Windows

Ensign Hydraulics’ Permco pumps involved in quarry duties.

High performance gear pumps range extended Ensign Hydraulics has extended its Permco P197 and P257 range of general purpose hydraulic pumps. These now feature a new design of bearing carrier providing a greater variety of porting options to expand the scope of applications. The heavy duty low maintenance pumps are suited for single or multiple use in most mobile applications using either mineral based hydraulic oils or fire resistant fluids such as water glycol, invert emulsions etc. Both pumps are manufactured in cast ion and operate at working pressures up to 275.8 bar with rated speeds up to 2400 rpm. The pumps are being supplied to industries operating equipment in hostile environments such as quarrying, offshore, plant hire, underground applications and also to a number of hydraulic powerpack OEMs. They are compact, have low noise characteristics and use nickel alloy internals for reliable operation. Displacements for the 197 and 257 are 1.97 and 2.56 in3/rev/in gearwidth with 3.3 to 89.3 and 4.3 to 144.1 hp respectively.

The software company, Rebis, has launched AutoPIPE@ 5.0, a WlndowsTM based pipe stress analysis package. Rebis claims that AutoPIPE 5.0 is the first package of its type to exploit Windows. Users can now graphically cut, copy and paste sections between separate models or repetitive sections within the same piping model, drastically reducing the man-hours required for piping model creation and editing. New or experienced users can create piping models of any complexity by dragging and dropping piping objects across the screen. The package also provides several new analytical capabilities, including determination of maximum stresses along elbows and other piping elements, FRP pipe vendor libraries, additional nozzle flexibility methods, and

historical dynamic analysis with built-in waterhammer, relief valve and steamhammer transient flow synthesizers. The soft ware offers CAD interfaces for PRO-PIPE, AutoPLANT@, Intergraph PDS, and PASCE plant design systems for automatic transfer of geometry, physical properties, and restraint data. AutoPIPE 5.0 is available for Windows 3.1, Windows NT, Windows 95, and DOS. Contact: Rebis, 1800 Riviera Ave., Suite 300, Walnut Creek, California, USA. Tel: +l 510 933 2525; Fax: + 1 510 933 1920.

Redesigned wet well mounted pump stations Smith & Loveless has released details of its new wet well mounted pump station design for industrial and municipal wastewater pumping applications. The new design affects both the 4 in and 6 in pump above grade 2-pump wet well mounted pump stations, and mainly incorporates structural improvements. Features include a “halfmoon” hinged aluminium treadplate cover, which provides im-

proved access to the wet well and an obstruction-free working surface when working on the wet well access side of the station. The vacuum pumps and air compressors are mounted on a channel bracket connected to the baseplate with large stainless steel studs. The hood mounting details have also been revised. The flange has been replaced with a single bar, topped with a gasket to better seal the hood and provide a cleaner “look” to the base. The lid prop has been replaced by a gravity latch, which protects the lids or hinges from possible damage. Other redesigned features are “automatically” centred piping, streamlined wiring inside the station, and a thick layer of Versapox@ coating, which provides corrosion protection. Moyno rotor treated with the UltraShieldTM coating.

Rotor coatings improve service life Moyno Industrial Products, has introduced five new rotor coatings for use with its progressing cavity pumps. The UltraShieldTMcoatings were designed

to provide superior performance in highly abrasive and corrosive applications. Using advanced surface technology, the chemical formulation and application methodology of each coating material has been optimized, resulting in maximum strength and performance in demanding environments. All of the coat-
