1989 - A good year to exhibit at Incheba

There seems to be general agreement by Eastern European pundits that 1989 will be a good year to exhibit at Incheba. Held annually in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, theevent is one of the few exhibitions dedicated to the needs of the chemical industry held inthispartof theworld. The 1989 show, to be held from June 24 to 30 will be particularly significant as this is the penultimate year of the country's current FiveYear Plan, making it a time when buyers do their specifying for the next five years. Like other Eastern European countries, Czechoslovakia is undergoing a period of radical change in the business sphere that will give middle management a greater say in the running of things. This should mean that more'money will be spent on western technology and other imports to continue the radical modernisation of thechemical indus. try that has taken place within the past few years. The major topicof thefairthisyear will be chemical fibres, theirproduction and application. Also in the mix will be chemical, pulp and paper manufacturing; primary metallurgic

production; human and veterinary pharmacy; biochemistry and biotechnology; laboratory equipment, including robotised and control systems, and aqrl-business, including feedstocks materials and technologies. As usual theevent, which is held on the banks of the Danube, is supported by a full scientific and technical programme. This includes: o Fibrichem 89, a congress on chemical fibres and their application; o Interbiotech 89, a symposium on thepreparation of enzymes; o Ekochem 89, a symposium on the protection oftheenvironment; o Interprogres 89, a symposium on feedstocks materials and products; o Interantikor 89, a congress on corrosion and surface treatment; o Interekonomist 89, a symposium on the restructuring of the economies of Czechoslovakia and the other CMEA countries. The event is traditionally well attended by both visitors and exhibitors from Western and CMEA countries who arenow catered for by the addition of several more modern hotels in Bratislava opened during thepast year. Stainless steel frames now standard The new rationalised design ofAdpec process filters has enabled Pierson & Co (Adpec) to offerthe entire range (up to 100m2 filterarea) withstainless steel 304 frames as standard at no extra cost. The all-important vacuum trays continue to beoffered in a choice of materials although polypropylene has been found to be the most preferred material for this range of versatile units. The new construction is the result of a design programme which was started in 1985 and has been subject to rigorous 'in the field' testing. A self-checking quality is a feature of thedesign. Greater rationalisation and standardisation is said to have led to a more robust construction whilst reducing labour costs. Pierson & Co (Adpec) Ltd, Thrift Street, Wollaston, Northants NN9 70J.
