Welcome to the 2008 SIR Annual Scientific Meeting 2008 SIR – Options and Opportunities in IR Dear Colleagues, The SIR Annual Scientific Meeting Committee is pleased to present the program for the 33rd Annual Meeting in this JVIR Supplement. The field of Interventional Radiology is expanding rapidly and the annual meeting provides registrants with the opportunity to keep pace with all of the important new developments in the field. The meeting also provides members with a once-a-year opportunity to renew old acquaintances, exchange practice experiences and make new connections with colleagues and industry. We hope that you enjoy the meeting activities described in this Program and will take the time to review these offerings in preparation for a rewarding and exciting meeting experience.

Education and Research Educational opportunities at the SIR meeting are unsurpassed. An extensive array of plenary sessions, categorical courses, lunch seminars, and didactic and hands-on workshops will offer comprehensive education in all new and ongoing aspects of IR. These scheduled activities are listed in this supplement along with the course coordinators and faculty. The SIR Annual Scientific Meeting Web site, www.SIRmeeting.org, is your resource for presenter contributions from symposia, plenary sessions and categorical courses. Faculty provide educational objectives and references for each presentation. Attendees can print session materials from the Web site to customize their daily educational schedule and search specific sessions for keywords and information. Enclosed you will also find the peer reviewed scientific oral and poster presentation abstracts. This year’s meeting, includes more than 200 oral presentations, and over 150 posters will be available for electronic review in the eLounge. The oral presentation sessions and times are listed in the supplement. Please bring the printed supplement with you to Washington, as this is your only copy.

Technical Exhibits The Technical Exhibit Hall will be open from Sunday to Wednesday. We encourage you to visit the Exhibits to find out about new developments in technology. Lunch will be provided in the Exhibit Hall every day and refreshments will be available during the morning and noontime breaks. The Technical Exhibit area is an excellent meeting place and a great opportunity to introduce your IR team to new supplies and equipment for IR.
