HE SOCIETY OF Pediatric Nurses (SPN) has had another banner year! The Board continued to focus on growing revenue, investing in a secure financial future for the organization, and conservative spending. We achieved the financial goals that were set in 2006. General membership continues to increase. The conference in Milwaukee produced record attendance again despite a snowstorm in April! Our Corporate membership program has grown from 23 to approximately 30 members. We continued to offer the Pediatric Nursing Certification Review course and launched the publication of a pediatric certification review book coauthored by Janice Selekman and Louise Jakubik. We successfully conducted our first leadership preconference with 50 attendees, and we were able to offer all chapter presidents free registration to this preconference. SPN will continue to offer a leadership preconference at the national conference in Denver in April 2008. Our commitment to growing pediatric nursing leaders was also supported through sponsoring two SPN members to be attendees at the Nursing Alliance Leadership Academy. Our reserve funds have continued to increase through investment in certificates of deposit. The Board approved our investment policy and financial procedures to assure appropriate allocation of resources and growth of revenue. Our goal is to keep SPN financially secure for years to come! The financial goals for 2008 are as follows: • Continue to spend conservatively;

In summary, SPN has continued to grow and has had another year of financial solvency! Our financial reports continue to reflect a secure financial picture. We are in a position to look forward to continuing our mission, expanding member and Corporate member services, and supporting leadership development and networking through the coming year. Our priority is to continue the support of successful conferences, increase membership, diversify revenue streams, and continue to build our reserve. Investing in our future leaders, the stability of the organization, and support of chapters is our primary goal. We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming conference in Denver in April 2008!
