WORLD PUMPS

December 2016

Extended service level Turbomolecular model presented at Vacuum Expo options for food industry Developer and manufacturer of vacuum products and exhaust management, Edwards, recently launched its new nEXT85 turbomolecular pump at Vacuum Expo 2016. This new turbomolecular pump builds on the success of the EXT75DX model and delivers an improved performance in a smaller package, while maintaining the same high levels of reliability. The nEXT85 is suitable for a range of R&D and high energy physics

and for analytical instrument uses. The in-built infra-red temperature sensor which directly measures the rotor temperature is only possible with the nEXT85, and delivers an increased performance envelope and improved thermal control.

Supplier of process technology for the food industry, GEA has introduced the GEA PerformancePlus, giving its customers service level options that extend beyond routine preventative maintenance.

The nEXT85 also improves on the communications of previous nEXT pumps with an on-board USB port allowing simple communication with Edwards’ free nST software. The pump is also available in standard or higher compression variants.

By combining modern condition monitoring technologies with its industry expertise, the GEA PerformancePlus provides monitoring services, comprehensive analysis reports and reliable optimization recommendations.

It creates transparency about the current health status of the customer’s equipment, increases its availability and ensures optimum

productivity. GEA PerformancePlus enables a speedy evaluation of the opportunities and risks of changing production requirements, orders can be assessed and economically. The GEA PerformancePlus will initially be available for GEA separators; in the mid-term it will be extended to other GEA product groups. www.gea.com

Zero energy range offers farmers significant savings Submersibles protect town from flooding

JRH Water Management, which specialises in rain water harvesting and water technology, is launching its zero energy water pumps in November at the Newark Showground.

The Midlands Machinery Show will take place from 23 – 24 November and new water technology will feature for the first time this year to help farmers to create cost savings. The zero energy water pump works purely by using the pressure of the water going into it which builds up before it is then released and pumped. It has no moving parts which make it cost effective to run and easy for farmers and businesses to use. It is built on the old theory of RAM pumps in the 1940s and 1950s. www.worldpumps.com

The new pumps do not require fuel and offer substantial energy savings for farmers and agriculture businesses as they are selfsustaining.

The Midlands Machinery Show is open to visitors between 8am and 4pm on both days and is free to attend. www.jrhwatermanagement.co.uk

International pump manufacturer, Caprari, has provided submersible electric pumps for an operation in Drosendorf, Germany, to protect the town from flooding from the nearby Leitenbach river. When the authorities decided to take action, the work included a significant diversion of the river's flow, the strengthening of the banks, the construction of durable protective walls and the construction of large pumping stations. The technological lynchpin was a pumping system from Caprari, equipped with two submersible electric pumps. They were built with sturdy dual channel cast iron impellers for raw water and installed inside large cylindrical reinforced concrete structures positioned in the subsoil.

The pumps must constantly guarantee drainage, as well as a reliable and efficient service in case of emergency. Caprari is able to ensure continuity of operation thanks to its Non Stop solution, a wastewater pump with four combined anti-clogging systems, which include fibre cutting, backimpeller cleaning, a no jamming system and handling of large solids. www.caprari.com
