Grundfos expands US facility
G
rundfos Pumps Corp has completed a US$4.5 million expansion of its facility in Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA. The expansion has added 64 000 sq ft to the now 104 000 sq ft facility, giving Grundfos more floor space for service work, product assembly and the storage of up to US$18 million in equipment inventory. Grundfos can now increase local assembly operations of commercial and industrial products, and expand service and distribution throughout the Eastern US and Canada. The company can also offer increased training activities for partners on the East coast. The facility’s current staff of 25 is set to increase. “We plan to add between eight and 13 jobs here within the next 12 months. And we expect that, as we take on new assembly operations, we will add five new jobs each year after that,” said John Petrella, Allentown facility operations manager. Grundfos has been in Allentown since 1988, adding product assembly in 1998. Grundfos’s North American operations are headquartered in Olathe, Kansas. For further information, visit www.grundfos.us
Godwin Pumps opens new facilities in California and New York
G
odwin Pumps has opened its 25th branch location in Long Beach, California and added a depot in Albany, New York. Located in Carson, the new branch facility is near major refineries, including Conoco Wilmington, Conoco Carson, Exxon Mobile Torrance, BP Arco Carson, Tesoro Wilmington, Valero Wilmington, BP Calciner Wilmington and Chevron El Segundo. “We chose the Carson location to provide more immediate rental, sales and service support to our refinery business in the Long Beach area, and to support our ongoing business in the western portion of the Los Angeles basin with municipal, industrial and
construction clients. This location complements our existing Mira Loma facility, in the eastern portion of the Los Angeles basin,” said Godwin western regional manager Ron Askin. The new facility offers 2400 sq ft of office space, 12 000 sq ft of building space and another 75 000 sq ft of yard space to support the current demand and long-term growth expected in California’s Long Beach area. Godwin has also opened a new depot in Albany, New York. Headed by operations manager Chris Batt, the Albany facility will provide Godwin with 1500 sq ft of office space, 6000 sq ft of shop space and an acre of yard space. “We have received an increasing amount of business from the Albany area,” said regional manager Herb Schroeder. “Our new facility in Albany will help us provide better coverage with our entire range of equipment, rather than just the big specialty pumps we’ve been trucking in from Batavia. We’ll be more efficient and we’ll be able to provide better service to our customer base in Albany and surrounding areas.” For further information, visit www.godwinpumps.com
Sulzer Pumps sees double-digit growth in order intake
S
ulzer Pumps continued to show strong growth in order intake for the first nine months of 2008, increasing 16% to SFr1877.0 million. The power generation and the oil and gas segments were strong drivers of this growth, while the hydrocarbon processing industry remained active. Sulzer reports encouraging demand for pumps in emerging regions. Like previous years, Sulzer Pumps’ new equipment orders outperformed the service business. The growth was supported by major projects with long lead times in the first nine months; Sulzer cautions, however, that it is unlikely that these large project volumes will remain at the same level. For the full year 2008, Sulzer Pumps expects order intake levels to exceed 2007’s SFr2 076.9 million.
