There are various aspects of discussion on circumcision either on scientific or on public fields. Twitter is a popular social platform which is increasingly being used by urologists for rapid dissemination of scientific information. In this study we aimed to elucidate the discussion points of circumcision through Twitter activity. MATERIAL & METHODS: Between 9/9/2016 - 9/10/2016 twitter searched for #circumcision hashtag via tweetarchivist.com. Total tweet numbers, most influencers, top users are documented. Tweets including female circumcision were excluded. The contents of the tweets were classified into 4 subgroups (medical, religious, social and political). RESULTS: A total of 9795 users generated 15989 tweets about circumcision in a one month period. Mean daily tweet activity was 530,8±101,7 for #circumcision. The content analysis revealed that 2224(%15) medical, 1133( %7) religious, 323( %1.9) social and 10470 ( %70) political tweets have been sent by the users. Contributors originated from 174 countries on 6 continents with a median followers of 517 (range=0-1257381 twitter user) . The tweets were disseminated from platforms on exclusively mobile devices (48%) more frequently than from desktop devices (52%). Media organizations were accounted for 50% of the top 10 influencers in circumcision hashtag. The most common hashtags accompanying #circumcision were #HIV (4.9%), #babiesgotherpes (3.3%), #muslim (1.8%),, #malegenitalmutilation (1.6%) respectively.
