The Journal of Pediatrics Educational Foundation 1975 Lectureships

THIS IS the seventeenth consecutive year that The Journal of Pediatrics Educational Foundation has awarded Visiting (Domestic) Professorships to pediatric institutions in the United States and Canada. These Visiting Professorships have been awarded to meet a variety of needs, such as clinical teaching, strengthening of scientific and research programs, departmental development and organization, and social or community pediatrics. The Professorships are available to pediatric departments of medical schools in the United States and Canada and to pediatric institutions with approved residency programs which are unaffiliated with medical schools, but which have an active residency program in progress with a minimum of four residents. Each Professorship is for a period of one week, of which two days are often reserved for travel by the Visiting Professor. Selection of the Professor and arrangements for the time and other details of his visit are the responsibility of the pediatric department. The Foundation assumes financial responsibility for all ex-

penses, such as travel and living, and an appropriate honorarium is added. This phase is handled by the Foundation directly with the Visiting Professor. Thirty-eight Visiting Professorships or Lectureships were awarded in 1970, twenty-seven for 1971, thirtynine in 1972, twenty-four in 1973, and the thirty listed below in 1974. It will be noted that in three instances in 1974 two institutions in the same area shared a Lectureship. Interest in the Foundation's program continues to be high and the favorable reports from both Lecturers and Departments have been most gratifying to the ofricers and trustees of the Foundation. Announcements regarding the 1975 program, together with application blanks, will be distributed shortly to eligible departments. Additional inquiries concerning Professorships may be made of Dr. Lee Forrest Hill, President, The Journal of Pediatrics Educational Foundation, 3232 John Lynde Road, Des Moines, Iowa 50312. Completed applications should be submitted before January 31, 1975.
