The Journal of Pediatrics Educational Program 1977 Lectureships

THI S I S the nineteenth consecutive year that The Journal of Pediatrics Educational Program has awarded Visiting Professorships (domestic) to pediatric institutions in the United States and Canada. These Visting Professorships have been awarded to meet a variety of needs, such as clinical teaching, strengthening of scientific and research programs, departmental development and organization, and social or community pediatrics. The Professorships are available to pediatric departments of medical schools in the United States and Canada and to pediatric institutions with approved residency programs which are unaffiliated with medical schools but which have an active residency program in progress with a minimum of four residents. Each Professorship is for a period of one week, of which two days are often reserved for travel by the Visiting Professor. Selection of the Professor and arrangements for the time and other details of his visit are the responsibility of the pediatric department. The Educational Program assumes financial responsibility for all expenses, such as travel and living, and an appropriate honorarium is

added. This phase is handled by the Educational Program directly with the Visiting Professor. Thirty-nine Visiting Professorships, or Lectureships, were awarded in 1972, 24 in 1973, 28 in 1974, 33 in 1975, and the 31 listed below were given in 1976. It will be noted that in some instances in 1976, as in other recent years, two institutions in the same area have shared a Lectureship. Interest in the Educational Program continues to be high and the favorable reports from both Lecturers and Departments have been most gratifying to the Editorial Board of The Journal of Pediatrics. Announcements regarding the 1977 program, together with application blanks, will be distributed shortly to eligible departments. Additional inquiries concerning Professorships may be made of Dr. Lee Forrest Hill, Secretary of The Journal of Pediatrics Educational Program, c/o The C. V. Mosby Company, 11830 Westline Industrial Drive, St. Louis, Missouri 63141. Completed applications should be submitted before January 31, 1977.
