Elsevier Scientific Publishing Company, Amsterdam -- Printed in The Netherlands Announcements THE KEN ANTHONY MEMORIAL FELLOWSHIP This Fellowship commemorates one of the most talented members of Ove Arup Partnership who was tragically killed in an accident in December 1981. Ken Anthony made all aspects of wind engineering his special field of interest, but was specifically concerned with the interface between field studies, laboratory research and design practice. It is open to British and Canadian graduate engineers with at least three years experience after graduating and an interest in furthering wind engineering research and practice. The Fellowship is jointly sponsored by Ove Arup Partnership and the University of Western Ontario, Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel Laboratory. It is tenable at the Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel Laboratory. Facilities are also available without fee to the holder of the Fellowship at the University of Bristol, Department of Aeronautical Engineering. The Fellowship is for C$20 000 and is for one year's study and research. Candidates are invited to submit topics or to select a topic from a list prepared by Ove Arup Partnership and the two Universities. They are also encouraged to study for the degree of Master of Engineering. Topics to be covered should relate to wind effects on buildings and other exposed structures. The effects may be concerned with structural behaviour or with environmental problems or both. Inter-disciplinary issues and the interface between research and design will be considered particularly favourably. Holders of the Fellowship will be expected to present a dissertation on their year's work both at the University of Western Ontario and in London, U.K. The Fellowship will be available for the academic year starting in September 1983. It will be available thereafter for a further three annual Fellows. Should there be sufficient performance and interest, the Fellowship may be extended thereafter. Interested candidates should apply in the first instance by 31 January 1983 to either of the following, stating the nature of their interest, the level and nature of their academic qualifications, their experience and their personal details. It is hoped that the successful candidate will be notified not later than 1 May 1983. Partnership Co-ordinator Ove Arup Partnership 13 Fitzroy Street London W l P 6BQ United Kingdom
