The conference will include review papers by outstanding authorities, and contributed papers, which are hereby solicited, on the following topics: thermopowers of crystalline pure metals and alloys (including transition metals); effects of anisotropic relaxation times; many body effects in thermoelectricity; effects of a magnetic field; thermopower at ultra-low temperatures; thermopower near critical points; thermoelectric effects in superconductors; liquid metals, and amorphous metals; thermopower in dilute magnetic alloys an’i in quasi onedimensional conductors. Hydrogen is considered one of the most promising fuels for the future. It is non-polluting, fully recyclable and has an almost unlimited supply potential. It can be distributed through pipelines or stored in containers for automative or stationary use. Conventional means of hydrogen storage has, however, several shortcomings. Alloy systems which can absorb or release large amounts of hydrogen at room temperature by pressures close to atmospheric pressure offer interesting possibilities. For several years extensive research has been carried out in many laboratories to find suitable alloy systems. However, a fully satisfactory system has not yet been found. It is the intention of this symposium to bring together research workers active in this field to review the progress which has been made and to discuss the future prospects. Invited lecturers will survey the properties of hydrides, both from a practical and fundamental point of view. Other participants are invited to present shorter contributions.
