Twentieth Anniversary of the Journal of Electrocardiology The first issue of the Journal of Electrocardiology was published almost exactly twenty years ago, in May of 1968. Since that time it has been published by Research in Electrocardiology, Ina, a non-profit organization headed by Zang Z. Za~ M.D., Founder and Editor of the Journal, until his sudden death on January 25, 1985. At that time Mrs. Maria Zao took over the publication of the Journal. After the present issue the Journal will be published by the firm of Churchill Livingstone, Inc. of New York City. The expertise of this firm in medical publishing will make a wider distribution of the Journal possible while retaining its technical excellence. Research in Electrocardiology, Inc. will now concentrate its efforts on the support of selected research projects and publications related to this discipline. Ronald H. Startt/Selvester, M.D., who took over as Editor-in-Chief after Dr. Zao's death, has attracted to the Journal many new contributors of the highest scientific quality, and also has streamlined the editorial and review procedures in order to minimize the lag between submission and publication of each manuscript. We are very pleased that Dr. Selvester has agreed to continue as Editor-in-Chief under the new arrangement. The purpose and nature of the Journal will remain the same as outlined in the Editorial appearing in the first issue and reproduced on the following page, except that the Abstracts Section will be limited to selected abstracts from the World Congress on Electrocardiology and other, lesser publicized electrocardiology conferences. An important new feature introduced by Dr. Selvester is the publication of the complete Proceedings of the Annual Scientific Sessions of the International Society for Computerized Electrocardiography, in the form of Supplemental Issues. Further features planned for the near future are selected clinical conferences on electrocardiography and cardiac pacing and electrophysiology.
