Reichhold announces price increases on all polyester resins for powder coatings sold in Mercosur Reichhold Brazil announced a price increase of 4% on all Polyester Resins for Powder Coatings sold in Mercosur. This increase will be effective for all orders shipped on or after 1 May 2011. The increase is necessary due to the increasing prices of commodities such as isophthalic and terephthalic acids, key raw materials used for the manufacturing of the polyester resins for powder coatings which impact Reichhold’s cost directly. DuPont to hire 700 scientists, engineers US-based DuPont intends to hire more than 700 people, mainly scientists and engineers, to build up its operations in India. The company currently employs around 1200 in the country. Isocoat is able to produce 10,000 tonnes/y of products. Valspar also has a joint venture with Tekno SA to market coil coatings in Brazil. The jv was created in 2006. AkzoNobel opens a new research laboratory A new research facility has been unveiled by chemicals and coatings firm AkzoNobel in Deventer, the Netherlands. The facility will house over 200 researchers. The company is targeting to have innovations make up 15-20% of total annual revenues by 2015, up from about 9%. Jotun marks stronger presence in Saudi Arabia with opening of new office in Riyadh Jotun Saudia opened new offices in Bilda Mall, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The new office will act as the company’s sales, marketing and administrative office and also house the protective marine and powder functions.
