powered hand tools. The Geared Orbital Sander is billed as the most comfortable sander ever made for wood, metal, marine, and solid surface applications. The new Geared Orbital Sander incorporates a 24position grip, backed by a singlepiece TPR (thermal plastic rubber) handle, with a built-in lever. Sioux's new sander includes a patented soft-textured grip. The asymmetrical grip adjusts in 15 increments across a full 360 creating the perfect fit for virtually any hand. It rotates and locks into 24 positions for any hand shape, left or right. The five-vane motor includes balanced ball-bearing construction with a precision steel ring and drive gear. The Sioux Geared Orbital Sander is available in eight models. Options include 6/1 or 8" pad size, hook-and-loop or PSA pad, and central vacuum. table blast system has the table attached to the door; when the blast door is opened, the work table swings completely clear of the cabinet, offering easy loading and unloading. Table-style blast machines are capable of cleaning a wide variety of parts that cannot be tumbled due to either size or shape. The table rotates while exposed to the abrasive blast, providing a uniform surface finish. The 48 ST comes standard with a single swing door. An optional second door with table can be added for improved efficiency and increased production. This machine offers a 112inch-thick steel table with a replaceable, abrasive-resistant liner with a 48inch diameter. The 48 ST can clean parts up to 48 inches tall and has a load capacity of 2,000 lbs. Standard 58 I metalflnishing I May 2009

VERTICAL MACHINING CENTER The new heavy-duty FANUC RoboDrill eco vertical machining center from MethodsMachine Tools offers high-speed milling, drilling, tapping, deburring, and chamfering. Named for its economical price and its ecological spindle that returns energy to the machine in the intervals between cutting, the RoboDrill eco is designed and built in Japan for years of continuous duty. With a working cube 19.7" x 15.7" x 12.9", feed rates to 1,181 ipm, rapid traverses to 1,890 ipm, accelerations to 1.5 G, 0.8-second tool changes (tool-to-tool), rigid tapping to 5,000 rpm, and high-speed reverse tapping (up to 20 times faster than infeed), the 30-taper RoboDrill eco offers the performance of some 40-taper machines. Its FANUC 31i CNC has simultaneous three-axis control (expandable to four-axis). For more information, visit www.methodsmachine.com. Circle 411 on reader service card

ROBOTIC BLASTING CELL Guyson Corp. has expanded its engineering test laboratory with the addition of a robotic blast system to support application development work on customers' automated blasting projects, as well as the company's contract finishing and surface preparation services. This enables on-demand demonstration of robotic surface finishing and shot peening processes, as well as measurable results under actual production conditions. The system combines a rotary table pressure-blast cabinet with a six-axis robot that manipulates the blast nozzle. Rotation of the turntable can be controlled as a seventh axis ofrobotic motion.
