VFD control panel is pre-programmed
Online pump selection program aids users
SJE Rhombus has introduced the CP3R VFD Panel, which is designed for constant pressure applications up to 5HP.
Griswold Pump Company has developed an online pump selection program to help end users to select and evaluate the best pump for their specific needs.
The CP3R VFD control panel is equipped with one variable frequency drive (VFD) in a ventilated NEMA 3R rated enclosure suitable for outdoor operation
and includes a 0-100 PSI pressure transmitter. Each is factory-tested and pre-programmed for applications, which makes installation and startup easier. It has built-in features, such as PID control and run time, making it suitable for constant pressure applications. www.sjerhombus.com
Centrifugal pump provides significant lift
Designed for high pressure water transfer, the QP3310SX pump provides flows of up to 1,050 l/min (63,000 l/hour), with a maximum head of 70 m vertical lift. It features a perfectly balanced, heavy duty closed impeller which runs in a matching volute, producing high efficiencies through large water passages. The pump can be used for irrigation, stockyard wash-don and as a fire pump. The pump is capable of a direct vertical suction lift of 7.86 m which makes it easier to transport water from dams, creeks or shallow wells, making the pump particularly suitable for water transport applications and tanker mounting. www.worldpumps.com
efficiency and power consumption to create additional comparison points. After creating a list of pumps, the program will generate a performance curve that shows pump head, efficiency, horsepower and NPSHr as a function of flow rate. Additional information can also be displayed, such as impeller diameter, speed, shutoff head, maximum horsepower, best efficiency point, minimum flow and motor data. Specific gravity, viscosity and temperature can also be specified to further narrow the potential pump choices. www.griswoldpump.com/html/ pumpsel.htm
Unit offers improved pump monitoring
SJE Rhombus’s new control panel.
Australian Pump Industries Pty Limited has developed a new 3 in self priming centrifugal pump designed to combine both high flow and high pressure.
The first step of the program involves listing the pump's operating requirements. These parameters are established by identifying the pump's design point (head and flow), along with its synchronous speeds. After determining these operating requirements, they can be entered into the program, which uses the parameters to perform a search and create a list of all the Griswold pumps that meet the requirements. This list can be sorted by pump size, NPSHr,

The drive options include a standard Honda 13 hp industrial petrol engine which is available in either recoil or electric start configuration. In diesel drive the pump is available with a Yanmar or Kubota Japanese built engine with electric start supplied as standard equipment. The pump is also available in bare shaft and hydraulic drive versions. The QP3310SX comes with heavy duty steel frame with sub base and anti vibration mounts. Petrol engine versions come with a powder coat frame but diesels are supplied as standard with heavy duty hot dip galvanised frames for maximum corrosion resistance. The major pump components are manufactured from high grade marine aluminium with a ceramic mechanical seal with separate seal sleeve. www.aussiepumps.com.au
Colfax Corporation has expanded its SmartSense intelligent pump monitoring line to include the SmartSense Pulse. The monitoring unit measures 2.4 in by 1.6 in by 1.3 in, allowing it to fit near the bearing on a pump to gauge temperature and vibration. It features LEDs on the unit that indicate pump performance and provide preventive maintenance alerts when needed. “Colfax’s SmartSense Pulse is designed to enable a level of monitoring that would otherwise require more staff and diagnostic equipment, which would be expensive and impractical,” said Dan Yin, Ph.D., an electronics engineer with Colfax.
The new pump monitoring unit from Colfax.
It can be installed on new pumps during manufacture or added as a retrofit to existing pumps made by any company. It is applicable for a variety of industries using pumps, such as oil and gas, power generation, mining, chemicals, marine and others. The SmartSense Pulse will be available for purchase in the first quarter of 2011. The original SmartSense system has a larger control unit, measuring 22 in by 20 in by 10 in which has additional sensors to monitor pressure, wear, cavitation and the integrity of the pump’s mechanical seal along with temperature and vibration. Its control modules can be accessed through the owner’s own data network, the internet, cell phones or wireless devices and can operate independently using its own customizable algorithm or connected to a group of pumps managed from a central office. www.colfaxcorp.com
