Aker Solutions enters framework agreement with ConocoPhillips

ker Solutions has signed a frame agreement with ConocoPhillips Norway for future modification contracts on their installations in the Greater Ekofisk Area of the North Sea. The agreement, which could cover activities ranging from pre-studies to complete total contracts (engineering, procurement, construction and installation), is valid until the end of 2010, with optional extensions.

Fluor forms offshore alliance with COOEC

luor Corp has entered into a formal alliance with China’s Offshore Oil Engineering Corp Ltd (COOEC) to pursue large offshore oil & gas projects in the Asia-Pacific region including China and Australia. The alliance will focus on both shallow and deep water as well as fixed and floating facility projects in the region with the possibility of leveraging the alliance globally in other regions and industries on a case-bycase basis.

Technip wins Wheatstone contract in Australia

hevron Australia Pty Ltd has awarded Technip a front end engineering design (FEED) contract for the offshore processing platform associated with the Wheatstone Project in Australia. The upstream (offshore) portion of the project covers the development of gas fields in the WA-17-R and WA-253-P petroleum titles located on the Northwest Shelf offshore Western Australia. Subsea gas gathering systems will transport production to the processing platform where the gas and condensate will be dehydrated, dewatered, compressed and exported through a 200 km

export pipeline to the onshore gas plant at Ashburton North. Technip’s operating centres in Perth, Kuala Lumpur, Houston and Paris will participate in the execution of the contract, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2010. The work involves selection of the optimum offshore configuration and development of the full FEED.

McDermott to split into 2 independent companies

cDermott International Inc is planning to separate its operating subsidiaries, The Babcock & Wilcox Co (B&W) and J Ray McDermott SA, into two independent, publicly traded companies. B&W designs, engineers, manufactures, and constructs power generation systems, primarily for large utility and industrial customers, as well as related aftermarket parts, services and environmental control systems. The company is a specialty manufacturer of nuclear components. Between 2006 and 2008, B&W generated an average of over US$3 billion in annual revenues. J Ray McDermott provides front-end design and detailed engineering, construction and installation of offshore production facilities, pipelines and subsea systems. Between 2006 and 2008, J Ray McDermott generated an average of US$2.4 billion in annual revenues.

ExxonMobil: Energy demand to increase 35% by 2030

s economies grow and living standards improve, demand for energy in 2030 is set to increase by about 35% on 2005 levels. According to ExxonMobil Corp’s Outlook for Energy: A View to 2030, this will require trillions of dollars in investment and a commitment to innovation and technology.
